What is Intuitive Eating?
By God's design, we're all born Intuitive Eaters. As babies we eat when we're hungry and stop when we're satisfyingly full. As we've grown up in a diet-culture we've learned "how" to eat. Meaning, we've learned the rules. The do's, the don'ts, the shoulds and the shames.
Intuitive Eating is a non-diet way of eating and exercising that honors our bodies, emotions and ourselves. The first edition of "Intuitive Eating" by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch was published in 1995.
As Registered Dieticians they realized that they had been taught to prescribe disordered eating to clients as a way of losing weight in the name of health. The dieting advice they were giving their clients was actually leading to worse mental, emotional, physical health and inevitable weight regain. So they decided to do something different.
Intuitive Eating consists of 10 guiding principles that help us navigate our way through Diet Culture to once again find our own Intuitive Eater. Intuitive Eating is where we eat based on our internal hunger, fullness and satiety cues.
There are no rules and no external experts guiding your food choices. Eating choices become disassociated from weight, calories and off-limits foods. We are instead free to enjoy the whole wide world of food without it being the sole focus of our lives.
Why Christian Intuitive Eating Coaching?
In Christian Intuitive Eating Coaching we explore the underlying beliefs that have roots in Christian Diet Culture. Together we consider the veracity of these beliefs from both a Biblical perspective and by looking at how God made our bodies to function and thrive.
As Christians, we know that we have a bigger purpose for our time on Earth. We've been created and prepared for meaningful work. The never ending fixation on food and our bodies distracts us from that bigger purpose. As we move from dieting to Intuitive Eating, we're freed up to pour our energy into meaningful work and relationships with greater peace of mind and joy.

Food Rules Worksheet
Intuitive Eating is founded on a rejection of all food rules. It instead teaches us to listen and respond to our own internal hunger, fullness and satiety cues. We're often unaware of our food rules. We just "know the right way to eat". This worksheet helps to detect any food rules that you might be adhering to.
