"For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery." Gal. 5:1

Jesus has so much freedom for us. It's something I've been seeing and believing for years now. It began with my own freedom and now it's something I'm passionate about sharing with others. So many of us, including myself, have been negatively influenced by diet culture and the "Thin Ideal" without even realizing it.

A part of my story is that I had an Eating Disorder for eight years that nobody knew about... not even me. We were all really confused when my health began to decline. I had never heard of Orthorexia and neither had my Doctors. It was actually God who told me that I had an Eating Disorder.

It's pretty obvious that there is enormous pressure to eat and look a certain way. What's less obvious is that stigma and shame are reinforced by misinformation about food and bodies. Diet culture demands all of our energy and attention and leaves us feeling like worthless failures who can do nothing of value. Whether or not you have an Eating Disorder, it's a lose-lose game.

So now I channel this passion for freedom into dismantling the diet culture around us. One big way that I do this is through teaching and Coaching around Christian Diet Culture and Intuitive Eating.

Aside from this passion, some of my favorite things in life are being an auntie, watching movies, learning almost anything new, playing tennis and dancing. I was born and raised in California and have recently relocated to Portland, OR.
